Where thinking meets doing
At Rock Creek, we believe students should leave school ready to do meaningful work—equipped to act with depth, agility, and purpose. That’s why we’re building a new kind of curriculum: one that blends intellectual vitality, real-world relevance, and the science of learning & development.
We’re opening in fall 2026 with 5th & 6th grade. We will expand a grade each year to serve grades 5-12 in downtown Washington, DC.
This isn’t school as usual
✔ Challenging academics with more joy & without the busy work
✔ Modernized curriculum including sequences in Data Science and Practical Psychology
✔ Exceptional educators who are experts and enthusiasts
✔ Weekly fieldwork to bring our science & social science classes to life
✔ Passion projects to explore & pursue interests with support
✔ Low-tech environment with no phones & purposeful tech use
✔ Active community where students plan & lead events and parents are always welcome
The world is changing rapidly, and students today need to be able to navigate ambiguity, tell persuasive stories, make good decisions, and collaborate effectively.
Too often, students graduate with a bunch of facts memorized, but without the tools, confidence, or skills to lead the lives they want. We’re here to change that.
We are the best school for makers, doers, & creators
Practical Liberal Arts
We’re updating the liberal arts for the world students are entering—with sequences in Practical Psychology, Data Science, and more.
Student-driven work
Students create meaningful work through passion projects, guided by a badging system that supports depth, initiative, and real outcomes.
Fieldwork
Every week, students head into the real world for fieldwork that’s tied directly to their science and social science courses—turning concepts into lived experience (and vice versa!).
